TMA Welcomes IPI Garut Interns: Strengthening Academia–Industry Collaboration through ERP

Bandung, July 20, 2026 – PT Tech Mayantara Asia (TMA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to developing Indonesia's next generation of digital talent through close collaboration with academic institutions. On Monday, July 20, 2026, TMA welcomed Purnomo Sidiq, M.Kom, a supervising lecturer from the Institut Pendidikan Indonesia (IPI) Garut, who visited the company's office to officially introduce and entrust four students who will undertake their Industrial Internship Program at TMA.

The visit marked the beginning of a collaborative initiative between academia and industry aimed at preparing students for real-world professional challenges. For TMA, an internship is far more than an academic requirement—it is a long-term investment in nurturing future engineers by providing them with hands-on experience in developing enterprise-grade digital solutions.

Representing TMA during the meeting was Rizal, who warmly welcomed the delegation from IPI Garut. The discussion was conducted in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, covering various aspects of the internship program, including its objectives, project scope, mentoring approach, and the shared expectation that the program would create meaningful value for both the students and the company.

The four students joining the internship program are Dito, Devira, Fajril, and Wildan. Rather than being assigned individual tasks, they will work together as a complete product development team, experiencing firsthand how professional software development projects are managed within the technology industry.

Each student has been assigned a specific role according to their area of expertise. Fajril will serve as the Project Manager (PM), responsible for coordinating project activities, managing schedules, and ensuring that milestones are achieved. Wildan will take on the role of Backend Engineer, focusing on application logic and system integration. Devira will work as the Frontend Engineer, developing intuitive and user-friendly interfaces, while Dito will serve as the UI/UX.

This structured team approach has been intentionally designed to provide students with authentic industry experience. They will not only learn how to write code but also develop essential professional skills such as communication, collaboration, project coordination, and understanding how different technical roles contribute to delivering high-quality software solutions.

During their internship, the students will work on an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation project based on ERPNext, one of the world's leading open-source ERP platforms. The project will expose them to a comprehensive software development lifecycle, including business analysis, system design, ERP configuration, custom module development, API integration, implementation, testing, and deployment.

The selection of ERPNext aligns with TMA's strategic direction in developing enterprise business solutions through TeMA ERP, an ERP platform built upon ERPNext and customized to address the needs of organizations across various industries in Indonesia. By participating directly in this implementation project, the students will gain practical experience beyond classroom theory, working on solutions that solve real business challenges.

The internship program will be supervised by Randy Rahman, Head of Technology Strategy and Innovation at PT Tech Mayantara Asia. As the primary mentor, Randy will guide the students throughout the project lifecycle—from planning and requirements analysis to architecture design, software development, implementation, and final evaluation.

According to Randy, one of the primary goals of TMA's internship program is to provide students with an experience that closely resembles working in a professional software engineering environment. To achieve this, the interns will be introduced to modern engineering practices used throughout TMA, including Git-based version control, Agile project management, code reviews, technical documentation, automated deployment, and quality assurance processes.

Beyond technical competencies, the students will also experience TMA's unique organizational culture. Throughout their internship, the students will also have the opportunity to participate in TMA's internal learning initiatives, including NGOPI TMA (Ngobrol Pintar IT), the company's weekly technology knowledge-sharing forum covering topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, DevOps, Cloud Computing, and Software Engineering. They will also be invited to join Demo & Workshop Day, TMA's monthly innovation event where engineers present prototypes, research, and technology experiments currently under development.

TMA's collaborative working environment will provide additional learning opportunities for the students. They will interact directly with experienced engineers from various technical disciplines, receive mentorship from industry practitioners, and gain valuable insight into how effective communication and teamwork contribute to successful software projects.
